Aikido is a non-violent and non-competitive Japanese martial art.The principle is guide away an attacker’s energy without causing harm or using force.The practitioner learns to face an attack in a controlled manner using inner strength, balance, and timing to neutralise the attack. Because aikido is based on these principles, everyone can practice aikido together regardless of gender, age, weight class, and experience level. Hampstead Aikido offers classes for adults and children.

Hampstead Aikido’s instructor is Tom Ferrari, 4th Dan. Tom began practicing Aikido in 1999 in the south of France and trained under several respected teachers including Pierre Malfettes and Micheline Tissier. He continued his practise under Bjorn Säw sensei, who was Dojo-cho of Aikido Alive London from 2011 to 2021. Tom has followed Bjørn Eirik Olsen shihan since 2011, attending many of his seminars in England and Norway. He has also trained at Hombu Dojo in Japan.
